Abraham and Sarah

The month of October I have been teaching Butter's Sunday School class. I have fun...and I am confident that even if the kids don't remember the lesson, at least they'll remember some of the unconventional things Ms Deb does in the classroom!

This month we have been learning about the story of Abraham and Sarah. The first week we talked about God telling Abraham to move. He packed up his tents, blankets, clothes, food, camels, etc, etc. and moved to a new land. We all crowded into my pop-up tent to talk about how Abraham loved God, had faith in God and obey His command. Hey, it's SOOO much easier when you're sitting in a tent inside a class room to talk to the kids!

My favorite part was talking about Sarah. The story says she laughs when the visitors tell her she will have a baby. She thinks she's too old to have a baby! "Is anything to big for God to do?" "NO!" The kids love to yell that out!

We generally start each Sunday morning with a couple songs. We sing "Somebody loves _______and Jesus is his Name!" and then we sing and sign "Jesus Loves Me." Generally it's a good time to remind everyone that we are all friends and we must always remember the golden rule..."Treat others the way we want to be treated"!

Sarah and Abraham have a baby boy, Isaac. What a good excuse for a party. We bring out our party hats and snacks to celebrate!
