It's our turn to host our PAT's class for our Alpha Buds! Butter Bean and I set up the front drive for a fun morning that included reading a story about a Little Scarecrow Boy and making a scarecrow of our own.

I created this scarecrow face on a plastic milk jug. Although it is suitably "frightening", it is covered in Americana images of puppies, cats, pumpkins, scarecrows, fall landscapes and jack-o-lanterns. The overall effect is rather like an American Classic, the "Crazy Quilt".

The Little Scarecrow Boy by Margaret Wise Brown tells the story of a little scarecrow boy that masters six fierce faces that his father has been teaching him to scare off the crows . With each face more fierce than the last, we all blew the feathers off the crows with our final fierce face!

Let the scarecrow stuffing begin! With moms help, the boys stuffed the legs and body with fresh straw.

The girls took care of the arms and chest.

A final picture of our scarecrow will be posted in a couple days as a few minor construction details need to be fine-tuned and the finishing touches need to be added. Butter Bean has swim lessons on Wednesday's so we needed to scoot. Time flies when you're having fun!

Butter Bean can now swim the length of the pool down and back!! Two years of sticking with lessons has paid off for this confident swimmer!

After swim...we're off to The Pumpkin Patch!

Yippee! Some of our favorite beans are at the Patch!

It was a clear blue day...not a cloud in all the sky. Perfect for a tractor drawn hay ride! Butter also enjoyed a picnic lunch under the shade of the live oak trees, a watermelon sno cone for dessert, made her way with friends through the Huge! straw bale maze, and bounced-bounced-bounced in the bounce houses.

She is one bouncy bean!
